MISSOULA – Veterans who feel confused about benefits and services they have earned had an opportunity to get some help from a nonprofit organization on Monday.
The Disabled American Veterans Mobile Service Office was at the Missoula VA clinic to provide veterans and their families free counseling and claim filing assistance.
DAV helps file claims for disability enrollment, education benefits – and all other VA benefits. There are 10 such trucks nationwide – including the one that covers Colorado, Wyoming, Utah, Idaho, Montana and Washington.
“We use this tool to be out in the communities to see veterans that can’t come to us. We have one office at Fort Harrison – that’s a long way to travel. So, it’s easier to bring the information and the benefits to them than it is to have them come to us,” DAV National Office Supervisor Kevin Grantier explained.
The DAV Mobile Service Office will be at the Kalispell VA clinic on Tuesday and then back in Missoula visiting the University of Montana on Wednesday.
